AACHI Operations Internship

The Austin Asian Community Health Initiative (AACHI) exists to partner with the local Asian community in Austin to enhance public health and well-being. We fulfill our mission through language-specific education, advocacy, and healthcare navigation services. 

AACHI is seeking a part-time intern to aid the Operations Manager in her duties to oversee the day-to-day functions of the non-profit organization.

Job Title: Non-profit Operations Intern

Job Type: Part-time, unpaid internship (4-8 hours per week)

Work Type: Hybrid (some in-person hours are required)

Location: Austin, TX

Job Duration: One semester (fall, spring, or summer; internship can be extended depending on availability & performance)

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Operations Manager in a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
    • Office reorganization
    • Inventory of office equipment
    • Planning staff social events
    • Vendor management
    • Various administrative tasks
    • Monthly financial/bookkeeping preparation
    • Scheduling & coordinating events/meetings
    • Incoming communication management
    • Participate in the annual Community Health Fair
    • Support the Internal Affairs Committee
  • Meet with the Operations Manager weekly to discuss tasks, projects, and work progress (remote)
  • Meet with the Operations Manager weekly at the AACHI office to complete office & administrative tasks (in person)
  • Attend monthly All-Staff & Internal Affairs committee meetings

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to legally work in the United States
  • Residence in the Greater Austin area & transportation to & from the AACHI office
  • COVID-19 vaccinated

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A background in the social sciences (ie: anthropology, sociology, psychology, social work, etc.), public health, or nonprofit work
  • Interest in serving minority communities
  • Commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, & accessibility 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, & Slack
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Strong work ethic

Mentorship & Professional Development: The ideal candidate will be eager to learn the different aspects of non-profit management. Any tasks that are outside of the intern’s job duties that the intern is interested in/wants to learn about can be added to the intern’s job duties & responsibilities. 

*The Operations Manager can coordinate with your school/organization to provide course credit and/or volunteer hours upon request.*
