Therapist / Christine Pao, Ph.D.
My name is Christine Pao (she/her) and I’m a licensed psychologist. I currently live in San Antonio but I offer therapy virtually throughout Texas and in 39 other states.
As a second-generation Taiwanese American therapist, I understand how cultural identity, intergenerational conflict, and the pressure to succeed can uniquely shape the emotional lives of Asian Americans. Many of the individuals I work with are in their 20s and 30s, navigating increased responsibility, cultural expectations, and major life transitions. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, burnout, relationship struggles, or feeling caught between cultures, therapy can be a space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with your authentic self.
Clients often come to me while juggling career uncertainty, new relationships or parenthood, or the weight of family expectations. I work with many AAPI clients who are exploring identity, healing from past wounds, and figuring out how to break cycles that no longer serve them. Themes like achievement pressure, emotional suppression, and family conflict often surface—and together, we explore these with curiosity and compassion.
I also specialize in working with couples, especially those who are newly married, engaged, or adjusting to life as new parents. I help partners navigate communication issues, shifting roles, and cultural differences, so they can grow both individually and together.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in emotional insight. We’ll work together to build a stronger connection to yourself and those around you—and move toward a life that feels more aligned with your values.
