Plus, we’d also like to appreciate Austin Public Health (City of Austin) & the amazing staffers who helped make so much of the work go smoothly: Sara Barges of Council Member Qadri’s office, Ramey Ko of Council Member Vela’s team, Amelia Casas in CM Fuentes’s office, & Ashley Richardson who’s part of CM Alison Alter’s office. Asian / Asian American CHW Outreach Toolkit

In 2023, a team of Community Health Workers (CHWs) from AACHI worked to address a problem: the current shortage of bilingual Asian CHWs helping our communities.

With support from the National Association of Community Health Workers (NACHW) and Johnson & Johnson, the CHWs developed an outreach toolkit and hosted educational seminars to raise awareness about the CHW profession. They met with local community members to educate them on the challenges Asian communities face, how CHWs can help, and how to pursue a career as a CHW.

During the project, the team hosted 3 CHW education seminars in Korean, Burmese, and Vietnamese. They helped 20 local residents learn more about CHW work. To access the toolkit made by and for Asian / Asian American CHWs, visit: https://bit.ly/asianchwtoolkit to learn more.
